Applied Natural Language Processing (Tuesday 13:15–14:45 / 2.39, tř. Svobody, DAS/JAZ4 & DAS/PBJ4) - This course provides an overview of common Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques that can be used to facilitate data mining for research. In this course, we will explore how computers process data, with a particular focus on how to apply these technologies to research. The course will involve a number of mini projects in which various NLP technologies will be applied to academic inquiries. No prior knowledge of digital technologies or computer programming is required for this course, but you are expected to spend a significant amount of time in (i) setting up your own device(s) suitable for Python programming and (ii) troubleshooting your own issues firstly and actively by consulting online platforms (e.g., Stack Overflow).
Psychology of Language (Tuesday 15:00–16:30 / 2.39, tř. Svobody, DAS/JAZ3 & DAS/PBJ3) - This course provides an overview of psycholinguistics, namely, the study of the psychological processes involved in language. In this course, we will explore the cognitive, psychological, and neurobiological factors that enable humans to acquire, comprehend, and produce language. Some knowledge about linguistics (particularly morpho-syntax) is required; some experience of behavioural experiments is desirable but not required.
